RFRI & TAG LOUISIANA INTRODUCES
TIMAU’S TAGIT LOUISIANA
RED SNAPPER TOURNAMENT
In 2022 the RFRI & CCA Louisiana will run two virtual tag and release tournaments designed to collect information used in making management decisions at the state & federal level. The tournaments will collect valuable scientific data, include key stakeholders, and demonstrate novel approaches to collecting data real-time. The Red Snapper tournament will run concurrently with Louisiana’s recreational red snapper season starting generally the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day, weekends only. The Redfish tournament will run April - June & August - October.
It's easy! Once registered as a tagger with TAG Louisiana all anglers have to do is tag the fish and take a photo with the Angler Almanac app. The fish will be automatically entered in the rodeo.
This tournament will allow recreational anglers to participate in data collection giving them DIRECT ownership of the data, leading to INDIRECT participation into MANAGEMENT DECISIONS! The rodeo also introduces novel ways to collect precise and timely data NEEDED to manage fisheries with an in-season quota!
All anglers have to do is:
- Register for the tournament here
- Download the Angler Almanac app at the Apple Store or Google Play
- Go fishing, catch a red snapper or redfish, tag it and take a picture with the Angler Almanac app
Once you've registered, downloaded the App and activated your Location Services, the photo and data are automatically transferred to managers! As a bonus the platform automatically links that fish with environmental data (i.e., salinity, water depth, air temperature, etc).
